Columbia Sportswear searched through thousands of candidates to find their two Directors of Toughness, Lauren Steele and Zach Doleac. They had to be mentally tough, physically tested, and great storytellers. But more than anything, they had to be up for an unknown adventure.
Watch the Directors of Toughness put Columbia gear to the ultimate test.
So the past six months have been one big great adventure traveling all over the world as a Director of Toughness with Columbia Sportswear. We've been testing Columbia's products in harsh climates all around the globe and it has gone by so fast. To me tested tough means always getting out there no matter what but at the same time can't go out there without the gear that is going to get you there. We have the opportunity to test gear in a multitude of different environments, it's been raining, it's been snowing, it's been windy, it's been beating sun, and what was awesome about the gear was that it din't hold us back from doing anything. No matter where we were we always had something to get us through our adventures and all the products that we were able to put to the test, definitely tested tough. Being tough doesn't end whenever i'm no longer a Director of Toughness. What I hope we showed you is that we're not professionals, we're not the best at any one sport, we're just people who like to get outside and have a good time. Zach and I have been experiencing things everyday that I would never have imagined experiencing in a lifetime but all the places we've gone are still there and all the things we've have done can still be done. You don't have to be a Director of Toughness to go on trip for the weekend. You don't have to be Director of toughness to go climb a mountain. You know I would just encourage to get outside as much as possible and not let the weather hold you back. The experiences that you will have, that we've been able to have these past six months have been irreplaceable. Every adventure has multiple perspectives and multiple experiences so it's fun whenever you reflect on memories, to be able to laugh about what everyone went through knowing that you went through it together. In the past six months I've learn that you can be tough any day, any time, anywhere and you don't have anyone to prove it to except for yourself.
